Programming through Education

Knothole assists families and schools by contributing toward field-leveling educational progress (primary and secondary education, and beyond). With youth ranging from ages 4-18, Knothole focuses in three areas:

Reading Literacy - for ages 4 through Grade 5, aligned with the blueprint provided by READ Charlotte, we supports the essential capability of reading literacy, through direct/hands-on tutoring and indirect support in partnership with schools, out-of-school programs and churches.

College Preparedness - for middle school/high school students, the importance of preparedness for college and other vocational opportunities is stressed, including specific workshops and counseling around academic progress, standardized testing, college visits and financial assistance (i.e. academic scholarships, sports scholarships, financial aid)

Technology/STEM Initiative - Knothole is helping to lead a cohort of businesses, schools and other non-profits to develop a pipeline of participation and programming that amplify and focus the awareness and interest in technology at young ages. We extend this effort to middle school/high school, through college and into the marketplace. Leveraging collective impact and social capital, this cohort moves the technology needle, benefitting students, families and businesses in the overall community.

 Programming through Life Skills

Knothole holds additional workshops that are executed in areas including leadership, financial fundamentals, business/entrepreneurship and civic responsibility.

Programming through Health & Wellness

In conjunction with partner Atrium Health, Knothole generates health and wellness protocols for families and participants, on and off of the field.

Programming through Community Outreach

We employ community outreach efforts - reaching outside the lines and classrooms into the community - to establish and support complimentary academic and related support systems and services to create opportunities for disadvantaged.

Programming through Baseball

- Skills instruction, including inherent life skills of teamwork, communications, discipline, and sportsmanship through:
Dozens of youth teams, ages 6-18 on sponsored teams where we will have year-round access to and influence on undeserved youth.
- Skills clinics for a large number of youth, many being exposed to baseball for the first time to reach an additional 500-1,000 youth and provide an initial positive touch from the organization. Clinics will feature basic skills instruction, strength and conditioning protocols, and health and wellness training.
